8 Famous Demon Slayer Swords, Ranked (Anime and Manga)

8 Famous  Demon Slayer Swords, Ranked (Anime and              Manga)

Nichirin swords are known for their alluring color-changing ability in Demon Slayer. Beyond just being aesthetically pleasing, these colors have great power that gives the wielder's strength and talents an additional level of significance.

Nichirin katanas are featured prominently in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, acting as unique emblems for the series' protagonists and their favorite characters. A sense of expectation exists for viewers who are anxious to learn the subtleties, both visually and symbolically, that accompany each blade in this engrossing anime series, even in light of the second season's explosive success.

 Indigo Nichirin Sword

Voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Inosuke Hashibira wields a special sword with twin blades that turn indigo-grey when they are received. Instead of the smooth cut found on most Nichirin katanas, Inosuke himself slashes many gashes on the Epic Fantasy Blades, rending flesh in the process. It is rumored that he intentionally cut himself to improve his Beast Breathing technique. Beast Breathing and twin katana wielding are two clear examples of Inosuke's transformation into a nature-enhanced person. His fierce presence in combat is made more unpredictable by his animalistic fighting technique, which he employs in both swordplay and hand-to-hand combat.

Amber Nichirin Sword

The blades of Hashira Tengen Uzui's Nichirin katana are distinguished by their amber tint. Tengen's bespoke cleavers highlight this distinctive color, in contrast to the typical Nichirin katana. Tengen developed the Sound Breathing Method by using his improved hearing and methods such as Echolocation and Musical Score. Tengen's flashy appearance, which is customized to fit his gear and style, is enhanced by the two cleavers that are connected by a chain. Tengen must cover these large cleavers with a cloth while not in use because they cannot be sheathed. This is a sensible way for him to handle the intimidating and unusual weapons that represent his strength and character.

Yellow Nichirin Sword

The Thunder Breathing technique is associated with yellow Nichirin katanas, which are used by practitioners such as Zenitsu Agastuma (voiced by Hiro Shimono), Kaigaku, and their mentor, Gramps (Jigoro Kuwajima). In particular, Zenitsu and Kaigaku are wearing yellow katanas. Though Zenitsu has only perfected the first type, he creates and enhances the Thunder Breathing method, adding lightning streaks to his blade. Zenitsu's speed is increased by the yellow sword and his breathing method. His understated black sheath highlights the thunderous strength of the Thunder Breathing technique and his commitment to constant growth, while also balancing the blade's striking aesthetics.

 Green Nichirin Sword

Green Nichirin katanas are aligned with practitioners of the Wind Breathing technique, prominently exemplified by the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa. Despite not being the originator of this breathing technique and its accompanying weapon, Sanemi stands as one of the most formidable Hashira, showcasing exceptional prowess in the art of combat and contributing to the prestigious ranks of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Gray Nichirin Sword

Gyomei Himejima departs from the traditional Nichirin katana, in contrast to his fellow Hashira. As an alternative, he brandishes a peculiar gray swinging weapon—a flail with an ax attached to its end by a long chain. This unique instrument is made of the same material as Nichirin swords, despite its deviation from traditional bladed weaponry. The weapon boosts Gyomei's breathing technique, further improving his combat skills. Gyomei demonstrates his versatility and proficiency with non-traditional weapons by using his keen sense of hearing to identify the sounds made by the chain, which gives him an enhanced awareness of spatial dynamics and motions during combat.

Red Nichirin Sword

Practitioners of Flame Breathing are represented by the color red, as voiced by Kyojuro Rengoku (Satoshi Hino) and his father Shinjuro. Rengoku's red Nichirin katana, known as the Flame Hashira, is honed from red ore and bears the traditional inscription "Destroyer of Demons." Rengoku learned how to breathe fire by studying the ancient manuals with great care, starting with his father's guidance. Rengoku's remarkable swordplay demonstrates his powerful abilities and dedication to the Demon Slayer cause as he vanquishes a Lower Rank Two demon and faces an Upper-Rank Three with resolute determination.

Purple Nichirin Sword

Even though we haven't seen a purple Nichirin sword in the anime or manga yet, Kokushibo—formerly Michikatsu Tsugikuni—used it to wield the daunting title of Upper-Rank One among the Twelve Kizuki. A fascinating aspect to both Kokushibo's persona and the mysterious universe of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is his unusual past—he was formerly a Demon Slayer before giving in to the demonic path.

 Black Nichirin Sword

The story's introduction of the black Nichirin katana is connected to Tanjiro Kamado, who is voiced by Natsuki Hanae. Limited understanding regarding black Nichirin katanas, which are thought to be foreboding and associated with disaster due to users suffering premature ends. Tanjiro is first let down by this lack of knowledge. But the black sword turns out to be in line with the Sun Breathing technique—the thirteenth nameless form that is thought to have been the source from whence other breathing forms originated—which throws light on the powerful and enigmatic nature of these unusual swords.
